| | When I fall for a good read..., March 7, 2008 ...I'm
usually easily entertained. And Barb McClatchy's "When I Fall" is a very entertaining piece of literature. Our
protagonist, Mel, certainly at life's odds with the job of a window washer, has seen some rather delicate situations during
his career. But when his dangling job puts him in the position as the eye witness of a murder way above the streets of Philadelphia,
his easy going demeanor kicks into high gear and he is desperate to find the killer.
But wait - no body, no murder,
right? The local police departments as well as the FBI shake their heads when Mel tries to get their attention. Without any
proof or even a victim, Mel has no choice but to team up with his Irish pal Liam and one homicide Detective whose hands are
bound due to some messy politics. Their frantic search through the darkest corners of a drug-infested Philadelphia neighborhood
begins and quickly Mel comes across some mysterious findings which involve a new interest, Sarah, and her fiancé, Dean,
who is a rising star within the pharmaceutical industry, a womanizer, and seems to be linked to some pretty shady business.
Once the murderer realizes that Mel is on his tracks and once Mel figures out that Sarah might be in the company of the killer,
Mel's up against the clock with no time to spare.
"When I Fall" is a fast-paced thriller with what
I call a `sexy undertone.' I very much enjoyed how McClatchy weaved corporate America issues and blue collar life (and
death) together and spun it into a believable plot of high industrial politics, cover-ups, and murder. Some editing and type-setting
issues turn this five star novel into a four star, but overall I very much recommend this book and consider it a fun and thrilling
page turner.

This book falls into the "Can't-put-it-down" Category ... July 13, 2007 by: Richard Jensen
I read an embarrassing number of mysteries each year - at least two a week. I spend about $150 per month on books
alone and go to the public library weekly. So I feel I am a very good judge of what is on the market and what I like. The
mysteries I read fall into three groups. Those I do not finish - I put them down and move on to something else. Those
I read a bit at a time because I want to see how they turn out but they do not hold my attention for a long period. And the
last group - in which this book is included - are those that - once I reach a certain point - usually about
mid-way - I read at every spare moment and read nothing else until I have finished. This book was in the
last-named but top category - I think this author has the talent and it is a question now of luck and perseverance. There
is no question in my mind that this book is of commercial quality. Best of luck - Richard Jensen
Best book I have read in a long, long, time! July 7, 2007
This book is definitely worth your
time! I read this book in 1 day, as did my husband. Couldn't put it down. I felt that it was extremely well written and
had a superb storyline. I was thrilled that the book was set in and around Philadelphia. I enjoyed all of the characters
and was able to get to know them very well. Barb McClatchy did a superb job of getting you into their lives and letting you
feel what they were feeling. The characters were inspiring. If you are going to read one book this summer,
make "When I Fall" it! Believe me, you will not be disappointed.
This book will stay with you! Reviewed
by: Dana Gillette (5/29/2007) It's not often that the characters of a suspense novel stay with you long
after you've put the book down. This author has done a fabulous job of weaving a well-plotted storyline and developing
characters that inspire. Expect the unexpected in this gem! Captivating from the first page!Reviewed by: Vickey Moritz (5/6/2007) Haven’t read anything
I loved this much since The Firm!

I Fell for When I Fall!
Reviewed by: Jim Bridger (5/3/2007) I received an advance coy of When I Fall. McClatchy
plots with page-turning skill. Her sense of biting humor, social satire and tension-building skills make this a great read.
I can’t wait to get my first published edition!
Keep them coming!

When I fall... in love with this book!!!, June 4, 2007
This book, derived from the concept of a Barenaked Ladies song, looks
at what happens when people see things that aren't meant to be seen. Almost all the characters in the book have a secret.
It is up to our heroes to fit the pieces of the puzzle together in time to save the day.
This book is sure to
keep you interested and turning the pages. The author has done a great job of capturing the flavor of the city of Philadelphia
as well as some observations that can only be made by a local. The city itself seems to be a character in the book and less
of a setting for the action.
The topic area of a new miracle drug released to the public is timely. It seems like
new warnings, recalls and class-action suits are flying all over the contemporary marketplace. The book's description
of the approval process imposed by the FDA as well of the inner workings of a pharmaceutical company, business vs. research,
seems right on.
Finally, I enjoyed the character development for our heroine, Sarah. I don't want to spoil
the story for anyone, but Sarah has a significant conflict in the story, one that many people share; we trust too much. Hers
is a transition from innocence to experience.
